Luton, Bedfordshire

Luton is a town located in the county of Bedfordshire, England. It lies approximately thirty miles (50km) North of London, near Houghton Regis and Dunstable. The town is undergoing a major refurbishment to the urban enviroment, as well as the train and bus stations. The Mall shopping centre is being extended as well as the Mall Arndale shopping centre. The market is situated within the main shopping centre,t, which includes flower stall, fishmongers, fruit and veg, butchers, hairdressers, ice cream, and T-shirt printing as well as places to eat and drink. Bury Park is another major shopping area, where there are shops to cater for the ethnic minorities in the town.

Luton has excellent links with London, and other parts of England, via the train system and the motorway system. The town is also home to Luton Airport, which is an important feed airport for the city. Arriva provide's the majority of town's bus service. A large campus of The University of Bedfordshire lies in Luton, with the other larger ones located in Bedford. There are two award winning sixth form colleges based in the town, Barnfield College and Luton Sixth Form College. There are seventy primary schools and thirteen seconday schools in Luton, and also seven nurseries.
