Reading is a town situated in the county of Berkshire, England. It lis about thirty six miles (50km) West of London, and twenty four miles (39km) South of Oxford, and has a population of around a hundred and fifty thousand. Reading holds an annual festival (Reading Festival) and has been an event since nineteen seventy one, and is held on the August Bank holiday weekend. The Reading Beer Festival has taken place since nineteen ninety four, and is one of the largest beer festivals in the country, and is held after the May bank holiday every year.
Reading Train Station is a major rail terminus and transfer point, with rail links to Paddington and Waterloo stations in London. Heathrow Airport is the nearest airport to the town and is twenty five miles (40km) away. Reading Buses operate the bus network in the borough and surrounding areas.
